MARTINEZ GONZALEZ, . Luis Raúl  y  VALLADARES HERNANDEZ, Marta. Hydrotherapy when risk of pre-term delivery. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 1998, vol.24, n.3, pp. 128-132. ISSN 1561-3062.

There has been a study on 32 patients which were hospitalixed for risk of pre-term delivery, in the Perinatal Special Care Room of the Faculty Gynecobstetric Hospital "Justo Legón Padilla" of Pinar del Río, during the period between july and december 1997, the treatment for these patients was complete rest, on a bed with an elevation of 15 cm on the feet part, and hydrotherapy with dextro-Ringer´s or saline solution, at 0.9 %. Other parameters were analyzed, among them, the mother´s age, erithrosedimentation test, and vaginal exudate, as well as the response to hydrotherapy. It was evident in this afecction, an index of 5,6 x 1 000 live born children, and nulliparous women were the patients at significant risk (p < 0,05), as well as leukorrhea and sexual relations, were the main factors of risk for pre -term delivery. This affection was 3,8 times higher in home women before 31 weeks than in labor women, and it was highly significant in women with an erithrosedimentation higher than 50 mm/h, with positive vaginal exudates. As a conclusion, the hydrotherapy treatment was very efficient, showing very satisfactory results, applying the therapy schedule with dextro-Ringer.
