Resumen

ORIZONDO ANSOLA, Rogelio. Fetal losses in antiphospholipid syndrome: New pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutical options. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 1999, vol.25, n.3, pp. 146-152. ISSN 1561-3062.

Fetal losses in antiphospholipid syndrome. New pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutical options. The antiphospholipid antibodies (lupus anticoagulant and anticardiolipin antibodies) are a risk factor for recurrent fetal losses. The clinical and laboratory characteristics of antiphospholipid syndrome are reviewed. Only high and moderate positive titers of IgG rather than IgM should be taken into consideration, neglecting low titers of IgG. Fetal losses may occur in any trimester of pregnancy. Anexine V seems to be very important in the pathogenesis of this disorder. So far, there is no agreement on the best treatment to be applied although low molecular weight heparin and intravenous immunoglobulin therapy seem to be the best alternatives.

Palabras clave : ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID SYNDROME [complications]; FETAL DEATH [etiology]; ABORTION, HABITUAL [etiology].
