A prospective longitudinal study was carried out among female patients from the Climacteric Consultation Room of the Maternal Hospital of Guanabacoa, in 1999, aimed at knowing the behavior of sexuality in the middle-aged woman. The sample consisted of 253 middle-aged patients, who were surveyed to determine the variables analyzed for the study. 80.6 % of the studied women know what orgasm is; however, 87.7 % do not feel it, 89.3 % do not have any sexual desire, 93 % are not understood by their partners and 91.5 % of these women are not interested in solving their problems. It was concluded that sex disorders in middle-aged women due to an unbalance of the biological, psychological and sociocultural factors that are characteristic of this stage of life.
