Resumen

LEON CRUZ, Grettell; BOSQUES DIEGO, Omar  y  SILVEIRA PABLOS, Mario. Molecular mechanisms of the cofactors associated with uterine cervix cancer. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2004, vol.30, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.

The persistent infection caused by some types of human papilloma virus (HPV) is considered as a sexually transmitted disease and as the main risk factor in the pathogenesis of the uterine cervix cancer. The cervix cancer is still the second cause of death due to malignant diseases among women, although theoretically, it is a preventable disease. However, the epidemiological studies have proved that a few women infected with HPV eventually progress to high risk intraepithelial lesions and in situ carcinoma. That's why it is discussed the influence of other factors associated with HPV infection cellular effects. The knowledge of the molecular bases of the action of these cofactors could prevent the development of malignant lesions in the uterine cervix.

Palabras clave : Cérvix; cofactores; mecanismos; Cervix; cofactors; mechanisms.
