Resumen

NAPOLES MENDEZ, Danilo; GOMEZ NEYRA, Yorgan  y  CAVEDA GIL, Ángel. Experience with the use of misoprostol in the preinduction of delivery. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2007, vol.33, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.

A descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional study was undertaken at Mariana Grajales CoelloGynecoobstetric Teaching Hospital of Santiago de Cuba from 1999 to 2006 aimed at proving the usefulness of misoprostol in the preinduction and induction of delivery. To this end, misoprostol was administered to a sample of 3 144 pregnant women admitted in the Perinatology Service at daily doses of 25 g by vaginal route during three days for preinduction and every six hours up to six doses in patients with definitive induction. It was demonstrated that the most frequent medical indication was prolonged pregnancy (46 %), and that with the preinductive method 83.3 % of the patients had a successful criterion, on improving cervical ripening. Vaginal delivery was present in 85 % of the pregnant in the definitive induction procedure. Hyperstimulation and tachysistolia showed a low frequency with 2.0 and 5.0 %, respectively. The protocols utilized proved to be useful and safe.

Palabras clave : Misoprostol; delivery induction; cervical maturity.
