Hematopoyesis hepática en el ratón sometido a mielosupresión por quimioterapia y tratado con Aloe barbadensis Miller. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2001, vol.30, n.3, pp. 172-175. ISSN 1561-3046.
160 inbred Balb/c female mice with 18 g of weight were subjected to myelosuppression with cyclophosphamide and were distributed at random into 4 experimental groups. 24 hours after receiving drug therapy, 3 of these groups were administered Aloe b at doses of 0.03, 0.10 and 0.18 mg/kg of weight, respectively, once a day during 7 days. The 4th group recieved sodium chloride solution 0.9 % with the same frequency. 8 animals of each group were sacrificed by cervical dislocation on the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 9th and 14th day of treatment in order to define the presence or not of hepatic hematopoiesis. The results of the histological tests of the animals that received Aloe b were statistically compared with those of the group that received sodium chloride solution 0.9 % (control). Foci of proliferative activity were only found in the animals treated with the highest dose of Aloe b used. The results showed that the Aloe b injectable aqueous extract administered once a day and for 7 days in mice with medullary suppression by drug therapy stimulates hepatic hematopoiesis.
