Resumen

CASTILLO GARCIA, Ibrilio et al. Exposed trauma injures: Part 2. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2006, vol.35, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.

The basic principles of exposed joint injures are similar to those of the open fractures except for some specific aspects regarding their management. Collin and Temple´s classification was preferably used in this study. Priority was given to the combination of a cephalosporine and an aminoglucosyde for the antibiotic therapy to treat these injures. Criteria for amputation and both advantages and disadvantages of predictive indexes were pointed out. Due to the controversial nature of this issue, there should be a permanent search for new solutions.

Palabras clave : Open joint injures; serious traumas in limbs; extremities; amputation; external fixation.
