The study of the so-called occupational diseases including noise-induced hypoacusia, acquires a relevant significance due, in first place, to the increase of its incidence and economic cost. 1 707 abstracts from the Medline database were reviewed. For the search and creation of the bibliography they used the ProCite database personal manager, references to this topic in books, journals, and courses, and references in Internet by means of the Google search engine. The aim of this review is to dealt with the meaning, epidemiology, classification, clinical picture, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation in order to give an updated information of such entity that serves as a guide for those health professionals that are related to the management of this affection in one way or another, and to favour with their action the quality of life of those suffering from this condition.
