The essay reflects, from a Marxist theoretical perspective, on the consequences of the crises that the United States is experiencing and the current implications for North American geopolitical domination, hegemonic or not. The analysis is organized in three parts. The first exposes the starting premises or assumptions. The second synthesizes the fundamental considerations from which domination and power are linked theoretically, in objective and subjective terms, as axes of the applied dialectical vision. The third presents the conceptual framework in which hegemony is integrated -as a superlative expression of internal and external class domination-, which complements and completes the use of force, with consensus, as an ideological expression that adds symbolic power, exercised through cultural instruments, to that of economic, financial, military and diplomatic ones. The importance of assuming Marxist theory and epistemology with a dialectical sense as interpretive keys in specific investigations is highlighted.
