Resumen

HERNANDEZ, Milena. Che Guevara at the Crossroads: Latin America in the Backyard. UH [online]. 2017, n.284, pp. 43-50. ISSN 0253-9276.

This paper is aimed at showing the validity of Che Guevara's political thought and revolutionary action. His reading of Marxist theory is understood by revisiting some of his works such as Notes for the Study of the Ideology of the Cuban Revolution, or the paradigmatic essay Man and Socialism in Cuba. How Marxism might be adopted in Latin America where consumerism and mercantilism prevail nowadays? What contributions did Guevara make to Marxism, which are still valid to left-wing movements in this region, despite of policies different from the ones adopted in his time? These are some questions to be answered when reflecting on his thought.

Palabras clave : New Man; Latin American Left; Marxism; Validity of Che Guevara's Thought.
