The development of non-state entrepreneurship in Cuba since 2012 places this sector as an important economic actor. The significant presence of this form of management in the Historic Center Old Havana provokes the need to assess how it influences the preservation of heritage, especially the built heritage. The work reflects a study of this activity, both under the modality of self-employment and non-agricultural cooperatives, in the preservation of the immovable heritage located in the Historic Center Old Havana. The research highlights the sui generis experience related to the actions developed by the Office of the Historian of the Havana City to channel those impacts in terms of socioeconomic development of the Historic Center. In this way, it shows the achievements and potentialities of this new economic actor in aspects related to its influence on the built heritage and its social and citizen impact.
