The concept of participatory seed dissemination (PSD) appeared in Cuba after integrating seed diversity fairs and farmers´ seed experimentation and dissemination. Seed diversity fair is a method by which plant breeders, growers and extension agents have access to one or more crop diversity. Both, formal and informal system varieties are seeded through the current management of the environment targeted. Thus, all farmers participating in this practice select seeds and test them in their production systems, to be further multiplied and diffused to the other farmers. This work describes results from PSD in productive, environmental and socioeconomic terms in Cuba and México.
