LEON CABRERA, Pablo; GARCIA MILIAN, Ana Julia y CASTELL-FLORIT SERRATE, Pastor. The Millenium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals in the Cuban public health. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2016, vol.42, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 0864-3466.
The analysis of health problems with a comprehensive and systemic approach provides an opportunity to achieve equity. The governments are committed to implement policies in this regard. The Cuban health system was analyzed on the basis of the Millennium Development Goals and the challenges ahead to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals. The analysis of the reviewed documents showed that the goals of these objectives are globally met except for the reduction of maternal mortality. However, the integration of the priorities of the Ministry of Public Health with the Development Goals is necessary, as well as the research and monitoring from the viewpoint of the social determinants of health and the strengthening of inter-sectoral relationships to make governmental interventions and strategies are effective.
