Resumen

ARIAS-VARGAS, Yailen et al. Behavior of defense-related enzymes in two common bean cultivars parasitized by Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White) Chitwood. Rev. Protección Veg. [online]. 2018, vol.33, n.2 ISSN 2224-4697.

The objective of the study was to establish the behavior of four defense-related enzymes in the common bean cultivars (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) BAT-306 and Triunfo-70 parasitized by Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White) Chitwood. The activity of the enzymatic systems peroxidase (PO), phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL), chitinase, and glucanase, as well as the PO isoenzymes were determined. The seeds of both cultivars were sown in a mixture of soil and organic matter in a 3:1 ratio and inoculated with 2000 juveniles (J2) 7 days after germination. For all the analyzes, samples were taken at 1, 3, 5, and 7 days after the inoculation, and the results were compared by an analysis of variance and Duncan´s multiple range test, using the InfoStat program. All the systems studied showed induction in both cultivars. In the cultivar Triunfo-70, resistant to the nematode, considerable increases in the activity levels of all the enzymatic systems were induced, and in some of them, these activity increases were more sustained in time, of greater magnitude, or occurred earlier than in the susceptible cultivar BAT-306.

Palabras clave : Chitinase; Glucanase; Phaseolus vulgaris; Peroxidase; Phenylalanine ammonia lyase.
