Resumen

LOPEZ ESPINOSA, José Antonio. A BIBLIOGRAPHICAL ODDITY WRITTEN IN CUBA ABOUT THE YELLOW FEVER. ACIMED [online]. 2005, vol.13, n.2, pp. 1-1. ISSN 1024-9435.

This paper provides a bibliographical résumé of Scottish surgeon John Holliday Heragod (Juan José Agustín Domínguez), author of one of the first works written in Cuba about yellow fever. Additionally, it includes a few observations in relation to the process of convalidation of his title before the Royal Tribunal of the Havana Protomedicatum. Some considerations concerning the circumstances surrounding the editing in Spanish of the cited document in 1794 are given, as well as, its presentation at the Royal Patriotic Societies of Friends of th country in 1796 and its publication abroad in English the same year, as elements to place him in the proper place within the context of the Cuban medical bibliographic history.

Palabras clave : Medical bibliography; retrospective bibliography; yelow fever; Cuba.
