RODRIGUEZ BORGES, Lourdes; CIDRANES BLOMELIN, Margarita  y  DELGADO GONZALEZ, Ernesto. Experience of the emergency departament in the service of dental prosthesis. AMC [online]. 1998, vol.2, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive and prospective study was carried out in "La Vigía"Provincial Teaching Stomatological Clinic , within the period from February 14, 1995 to the same date of 1996. The universe of study was composed of all patients that attended to prosthesis service and requested inmediate assistance, considering as patients those that attended to a non programmed visit, belonging or not to the health area; with clinical record of this center or without it. This study was performed with the purpose of assessing the experience of the emergency department, identifying the type of emergency in the patients, soft tissue injuries, and obtaining criteria of personnel that worked in the services related to the programmed visit. Data obtained were processed through the statistical program MICROSTAT on IBM compatible microcomputer; finding descriptive statistics, variance analysis, contingent charts with the Chi-squared test. It was checked the efficiency and quality of this type of assistance; the most frequent emergencies were restorations and subprosthetic stomatitis out of lesions. All criteria gathered were favorable to this type of assistance.
