A descriptive study of 30 patients with kidney abscesses diagnosed at "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" and " Amalia Simoni" hospital in Camagüey city, Cuba was carried out within the period from January 1980 to January 2000. The diagnosis of this entity shows many difficulties which are established during the surgery or by necropsy studies. Here, we present our results and review about clinical, biological, imaging and therapeutical aspects. Out of six deceased patients (20 %) all were diagnosed by necropsy exam. They showed studies and therapeutic according to the diagnostic possibility of this disease. Fourteen (46, 6 %) of the remaining twenty four (80 %) patients received surgical treatment and ten (33, 3 %) received medical treatment.
