Resumen
REGUERO MUNOZ, José Luis et al. Appendiceal mucocel: Different forms of presentation. AMC [online]. 2004, vol.8, n.2, pp. 115-122. ISSN 1025-0255.
The appendiceal mucocele is a rare lesion, characterized by light distension due to the accumulation of mucine. In the great majority of cases it is a bening lesion. The mucocele is frequently asymptomatic or has atypic presentation forms, which make that the early diagnosis be unfrequent, and most of them are diagnosed through imaging studies or intraoperatorily. Three cases are presented of appendiceal mucocele operated with diagnosis of ovary cyst, acute appendicitis and colon tumor, respectively. Even though it has a low frequency, and an atypic presentation form, it should be taken into account the diagnostic possibility of appendiceal mucocele in tumoral lesions of the right inferior quadrant of the abdomen.
