Resumen

NAVAS ABALOS, Noris; CASTILLO FERNANDEZ, Frank Alberto  y  CAMPOS MARTINEZ, Angel. A profile of pregestation risks. AMC [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.2, pp. 64-72. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive cross-sectorial study was conducted from January to December 2004 at five family physician offices of the Village of Altagracia, branched to the Carlos J.Finlay Polyclinic, in order to profile pregestation risk. The universe was chosen from the female fertile population while the sample was 71 ladies assessed as under pregestation risk. Data were collected from clinical records and from a surrey that targeted the family history. Women within both extremes of the fertile age prevailed, that is, adolescents (47, 88 %) and 35 years women or women or over 35 (33, 81 %) Poorly educated women amounted to 70, 42 % working women amounted to 46, 48 %, single mothers amounted to 36, 65 %, whereas a percapita under $ 50, 00 prevailed. The malnutrition rate, an adverse obstetric background, and associated diseases (bronchial asthma, urinary infection, and chronic hypertension) prevailed. Primary data, collected through the surrey, was coded manually and processed in a Pentium IV Asus computer, through descriptive statistics; totals and percentages were used as measure. Results were reliable to 95 %. It was concluded that pregestation risk management is an indispensable tool for general practitioners when it comes to keeping low the rate of complication risks for the fertile female population.
