Resumen

ROSALES CLARES, Vivian del Pilar et al. Evaluación farmacológica de Pluchea carolinensis Jacq. (salvia de playa) en animales de experimentación. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 1999, vol.4, n.2, pp. 65-67. ISSN 1028-4796.

We made an evaluation of anti-inflammatory property of Pluchea carolinensis Jacq. (salvia de playa) to 30 % in acute and chronic processes, after its per os administration to Wistar rats both sexes. Experimental models  were used. e.g. carragenin subplantar edema to acute processes, and cotton-induced granuloma to chronic processes, included in recomendations. In both models, results obtained were compared to those of indomethacin, a well-known anti-inflammatory agent, as well as the negative control, using water. Induction percentage was estimated to study product in acute processes. By simple visualization and posterior statistical confirmation, antiinflammatory properties of salvia tincture were proved using different doses; the best results were obtained with a dose of 80 mg/kg. In cotton-induced granuloma model, we observed an anti-inflammatory activity in chronic phase (all doses), where 80 mg/kg was the most effective one.
