Resumen

Efectos agudos del extracto de Ambrosia paniculata (Willd) O.E. Schulz (artemisa) sobre diversos modelos de epilepsia experimental. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 2002, vol.7, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1028-4796.

An evaluation of the possible antiepileptic action of decoctions from dry leaves of Ambrosia paniculata was made by acute intraperitoneal administration in experimental epilepsy models induced by isoniazid, picrotoxin and electroshock (in mice) and in the epileptic focus induced by the topical cortical administration of penicillim in curarized rats. The extract at 5 % prolonged significantly the latency of appearance of seizures and death provoked by isionazid and picrotoxin, but no those induced by electroshock. The extract at 5 % also decreased markedly the amplitude of spikes of the penicillim focus. These results support or justify the traditional use of this plant to treat convulsant disorders.
