Resumen

LARIONOVA, María; MENENDEZ CASTILLO, Rosa; VALIENTE HERNANDEZ, Oscar  y  FUSTE MORENO, Viviana. Estudio químico de los polisacáridos presentes en Aloe vera L. y Aloe arborescens Miller cultivados en Cuba. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 2004, vol.9, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1028-4796.

The results of the preliminary chemical study of Aloe vera L. and Aloe arborescens Miller cultivated in Cuba are shown. The polysaccharides from the dry leaves were extracted with boiling water and were subjected to fractioning with cetyltrimethyl amonium bromide and fractioned precipitation. Acid hydrolysis of the fractions and detection of sugars were carried out by paper chromatography. The sulfuric phenol method was used to quantify the carbohydrates. A higher content of polysaccharides was found in Aloe vera L. The acid hydrolysis of the polysaccharide crude showed the presence of the highest quantities of manosa in Aloe vera L. and of glucose in Aloe arborescens Miller. It was also observed that there is a very small quantity of acid polysaccharides in Aloe vera L.

Palabras clave : ALOE [chemistry]; POLYSACCHARIDES [analysis].
