This research is aimed at assessing the diuretic and antipyretic effect of a fluid extract of Rosmarinus officinalis L. The biological model used was the Wistar rat. The tested doses were 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg, whereas the positive controls used were furosemide 10 mg/Kg and analgin 25 mg/Kg, respectively. The control groups were treated with distilled water. All the groups were composed of 6 animals distributed at random. The evaluated variables were: 24-hour diuresis and rectal temperature at 0, 4, 5 and 6 hours after treatment. The results showed a diuretic effect at the dose of 200 mg/Kg and an antipyretic effect with 400 mg/Kg, the highest experimented dose. Fever was induced with yeast solution 15 % disecated in sodium chloride 0.9 %. The level of significance was fixed at a p smaller than or equal to 0.05. The results are discussed to the light of the present knowledge about phytochemical screening and pharmacological effects scientifically attributed to this plant.
