Resumen

LOPEZ HERNANDEZ, Orestes Darío et al. Influence of the use of drying coadjuvants on the yielding of the aspersion drying process of aqueous extract from Calendula officinalis L. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 2006, vol.11, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1028-4796.

The aspersion drying is used to obtain plant extract powder in order to preserve the natural components present in them. The use of inert additives such as starch and maltodextrine favors the recovery of the product, since they act as drying coadjuvants. The dry vegetal extracts are highly hygroscopic, an inconvenient that decreases with the presence of additives, which guarantee a longer lifetime of the product. The aqueous extract of Calendula officinalis L. was used to do this work. Different runs were performed in a lab spray drier with different concentrations of maltodextrin and soluble starch. The influence of the concentration of the additive on the recovery of the product was studied by means of the yielding. The highest yielding was attained with 15 % of soluble starch in relation to the solid totals of the extract . A powder product was obtained by aspersion drying with a yielding over 90 % that makes it useful to be used as a raw material in the manufacturing of drugs of natural origin.
