Introduction:
acute respiratory infections are a complex syndrome of clinical entities, with epidemiological and causal diversity that makes it difficult to control and monitor them. Most common cause of pediatric and hospitalization medical consultation.
Objective:
to determine the risk factors and the incidence of Acute Respiratory Infection in children under 15 years of age in the Clinic 6 of the 13th March School Psychiatric Hospital in Bayamo. Granma 2017-2018.
Method:
an analytical case and control study was carried out in the Clinic 6, belonging to the "13 de Marzo" Teaching Polyclinic of Bayamo, Granma where the incidence, risk factors and the etiology of the acute respiratory infection in pediatric ages were determined.
Results:
a high incidence of acute respiratory infection was found, predominantly viral etiology. Risk factors were age, since it predominated in children under 5 years of age, sex predominantly male and regular hygienic conditions, both personal and household, very significantly.
Conclusions:
the rate of incidence of acute respiratory infection was 500.0 per 1000 children exposed, predominantly under 5 years of age male and viral etiology, influencing personal hygiene and housing as risk factors.
