An educational intervention as community school addressed to 48 patients with hypertension, classified in the physician's offices Mella 1 and Mellla 2 of "Néstor López Cuba" Polyclinic located in Mella municipality of Santiago de Cuba, from January 2009 to May 2010 was carried out. People enrolled in the course, besides meeting the criteria for inclusion according to selected variables, agreed to participate in 8 sessions of 60 minutes, once a week, where specific topics on the condition were discussed, music therapy and color therapy were combined, and daily life situations were also analyzed that allowed the relaxation of participants and drop of their blood pressure. The information provided in the meetings and shared by all guaranteed to favorably modify the knowledge of the group on toxic habits, course of the disease and control of the blood pressure, so that that teaching-learning modality was effective and very well received by the participants in the health area.
