A bibliographic review on Biostatistics as a science and its impact on health was carried out. Its implementation takes place in the area of scientific research, as well as in the diagnosis, therapeutics, characterization of risk factors and quality control, since most of the research works and clinical decisions rely on statistical analysis. It was concluded that it is an indispensable tool for the health professional, taking into account its impact on health statistics, research, teaching and management, in order to improve the population's quality of life and scientific development.
