Resumen

MULET PEREZ, Dr.C  y  MULET GAMEZ, Agustín M.. Syndrome. Proposal of conceptual development in function of medical diagnosis. ccm [online]. 2019, vol.23, n.4, pp. 1434-1459.  Epub 01-Dic-2019. ISSN 1560-4381.

Experts differ on re-conceptualizing the syndrome in function of medical diagnosis. To estimate the convenience of the conceptual development of the term syndrome, this qualitative investigation is carried out using theoretical methods. Its evolution has given place to ambiguity and terminological polysemy such as: equivalent to nosological entity; different clinical forms of an illness; association of genetic malformations; group of symptoms and signs that express one or more disorders; which qualifier implies an analytical sign; a term grouping or denominating symptoms, signs or disorders. Proposal of conceptual development with more diagnostic functionality: syndrome is the group of symptoms, signs (even sometimes analytical-paraclinical which constitute its verifier) or both, that converge frequently not by chance, whose relation can be causal, pathogenic, physiopathological, topographical or due to the similarity of clinical expression of the diverse illnesses that can originate it. The absence of the essential component of the syndrome qualifies it as probable.

Palabras clave : syndrome; concept; medical diagnosis; conceptual development; conceptual evolution.
