HERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ, José; LICEA PUIG, Manuel Emiliano y CASTELO ELIAS-CALLES, Lizet. Some endoluminal procedures for treatment of obesity. Rev Cubana Endocrinol [online]. 2014, vol.25, n.2, pp. 104-123. ISSN 1561-2953.
Treatment of obesity is marked by many therapeutic pathways and the technological advance has allowed the development of restrictive techniques of functional and mechanical nature, as well as other types of malabsorptive ones, which are less aggressive if compared to those of the conventional bariatric surgery, and have attained encouraging results that begin to gain recognition. The article described some endoluminal procedures to treat obesity. Mention was also made to the general indications for this treatment, its mechanisms of action and possible contraindications and also to advantages for the obese patient. However, it was emphasized that the choice should be made on an individual basis, in order to achieve the expected results according to the characteristics of the patient.
