The main results obtained in the investigation on the sanitary evaluation of lead in waters in Cuba, performed by the National Institute of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology in the last years are presented. The studies comprised analysis of the metal in sources of supply of underground and surface waters for human consumption and in networks of distribution of acueducts and urban home installations. The aspects related to the sanitary regulations of products used in contact with drinking water, as well as the national sanitary legislation are also presented. Taking into consideration the results obtained in these investigations, the contribution of water to human exposure to lead is not relevant.
