To supply health services is related to the use of a many resources, which once assigned to this end, can not be intended to development of others economy areas, thus the need of deepen in relation between resources used and results achieved. The aim of present paper is to updates the main methods and measurement tools of efficiency within the structure of health systems and services. The efficiency related to health context, shows a double condition of aim and means to achieve the improvement of health services. To be efficient means to obtain a better relation between resources and results. Its measurement is performed by resources, results and the establishment quantification for to perform after a comparison with study reality. May be used parametric and no-parametric techniques. In health context, where it is frequent the presence of many reinvestments and products it is advisable the use of no-parametric techniques like the data envelopment analysis due to its flexibility and ability to handle the productive and special features of entities.
