Resumen
CABRERA ESTUPINAN, Eric y ALOMA BARCELO, Alejandro. Oil industry fire extinguishing system design. Part 1: Thermal radiation models. riha [online]. 2015, vol.36, n.3, pp. 03-17. ISSN 1680-0338.
In this first part of the study a detailed analysis of the main models used to calculate the intensity of thermal radiation incident on an object produced by a large pool fire is performed. The point source model (MFP) is simpler than the solid flame model (MLLS), therefore its results are more conservative, ensuring greater safety in design. Therefore the MFP is assumed as the calculation model. The value I =10 kW/m2 is defined as thermal radiation intensity limit for the neighbor tank criterion. Practical approaches that have been used in the Company of Engineering and Petroleum Projects (EIPP) for defining the neighbor tank criterion are also discussed.
