In this paper we present a part of an extensive experimental campaign using physical modeling developed in a 2D wave tank of the University of Naples "Federico II, Italy to obtain an effective solution to reduce wave overtopping in Malecón Tradicional from La Habana. The average overtopping rate for the current situation was determine. The evaluation of the alternatives is carried out by means of a comparative analysis, taking as the reduction of the average overtopping rate, as well as evaluating those wish fulfill with the tolerable mean discharges of 50 L/sm. It was possible to confirm that the variant increasing freeboard generate the best results for the maritime climate conditions studied and the technical restrictions imposed, with values of reduction of 31.5% y 29,8% for 50 years of return period; and 22,5% y 24,24% for Wilma hurricane. It was compared the results of the parametric model develop with formulation of Eurotop 2007 manual.
