Resumen

Medical Informatics subject syllabus does not have enough contact hours to work with the application LibreOffice Calc, thus it is mandatory to look for new alternatives for its teaching, proposing as objective, the structuring of the classes of the application LibreOffice Calc that it corresponds to the theme III of the Medical Informatics for the students of first year of Medicine career by means of the use of the Virtual Learning Environment, Moodle. The course was structured through four themes. The used resources were: Pages of texts, Web pages, electronic presentations, working guidelines, activities to be performed by students, questionnaires and self-assessment activities. The use of the Virtual Learning Environments for the teaching of the Calc Spreadsheet did not only help in this process, but rather it allowed more time to the students to also solve the practical tasks, contributing this way to the development of abilities.
