For the study of complexity it is unavoidable that a historical analysis is made, because, regrettably, many premises and scientific and philosophical antecedents of the current theories and approaches about complexity have been forgotten, ignored or underestimated and, even, distorted and simplified. Back in time the ideas about complexity were expressed in spontaneous approaches through aphorisms, metaphors and ingenious maxims mingled with mythical ideas and riddles. In such spontaneity of reflections of the old sages the current term of complexity was not presupposed and much less that of fractality, because sciences were not fully developed as to reach the deep knowledge that today exists of reality. However, if it is desired to be successful in the creation of an epistemology of complexity that integrates the advances of the current approaches and theories you cannot avoid the spontaneous holistic and complex vision taken root in the Greek classic thought. That is to say, when one meditates on essential concepts of knowledge, such as: complexity, fractality, dialectics, order, disorder, the whole (everything), part (multiplicity), objectivity, subjectivity, causation, truth, rationality, integration, etc., the jonick legacy should not be underestimated. The objective of this work is directed to rescue the original ideas about complexity from that frequently forgotten old philosophical thought
