URBIZO VELEZ, Joaquín Juan. Immunohistochemical study of oral lichen planus . Rev haban cienc méd [online]. 2012, vol.11, n.4, pp. 457-463. ISSN 1729-519X.

Introduction: oral Lichen Planus is a chronicle, recurrent inflammatory disease, that frequently affects the bucal mucosa to whose study are devoted many efforts in the current moment, to determine the participation of the cellular and humoral immunity in its possible autoimmune pathogenesis. Objective: to identify the diverse types of present Immunoglobulins in the inflammatory infiltrate of lesions of Oral Lichen. Material and methods: 15 cases were studied, from the observation of histological preparations with the Peroxidase Antiperoxidase Technique (PAP) for the determination of A, G and M Immunoglobulins according to the procedure described by Sheehan and Hrapchak. Results: It was observed that the biggest quantity in positive cases, corresponded the Immunoglobulin A (40%), following Immunoglobulin G (26.6%) and lastly Immunoglobulin M (20.0%). The positive reactions were classified between Slight and Moderate. Intense reaction was only observed in two cases of Immunoglobulin A. With regard to the controls, statistically significant differences were obtained, with Immunoglobulin G and the Immunoglobulin A, (p <0.05) not with Immunoglobulin M. Conclusions: the identification of diverse types of Immunoglobulins in the inflammatory infiltrate of lesions of Oral Lichen Planus supports the hypothesis of the participation of the humoral immunity in the pathogenesis of the disease. As a novel aspect it was presented an integrative outline about the pathogenesis of the illness.
