The book Science, Technology and Development. Nuevos desafíos para el campo CTS en Argentina, Editorial Universidad Nacional de Quilmes., ISBN 978-987-558-741-0, narrates the conferences that constituted a fruitful and enriching experience that allowed not only to reflect on the social relevance of the predominant topics of analysis in the field of social studies of science and technology, but also favored a constructive and intelligent exchange between different disciplines, approaches and objects of analysis, where researchers in training could present their research advances and receive guidance, recommendations and comments, It also favored a constructive and intelligent exchange between different disciplines, approaches and objects of analysis, where researchers in training were able to present their research progress and receive guidance, recommendations and comments from trained researchers, who are also part of the teaching teams of the different master's degree programs convened for the conference.

On September 17 and 18, 2018, the IV International Conference on Studies on Technology and Society took place at the Metropolitan University (Argentina), for Education and Work (UMET); with the aim of promoting academic exchange between researchers in science, technology and society (STS) and fostering cooperative work between institutes, research centers and STS postgraduate programs in Argentina and Latin America.

The papers presented and discussed at this international conference on technology and society studies constituted a renewal not only of the analytical approaches and case studies, but also, and above all, of the political and social relevance of the results pursued in each of the research papers presented.

This book, Garrido et al (2021), is the result of all this and proposes to show the reader part of that collective effort through the presentation of nine papers, which promise to energize the field of social studies of science and technology in Argentina and consolidate a new generation of STS researchers.

Science, technology and society (STS) studies contribute to reflect on the role, characteristics, consensus and conflicts, viability and obstacles of this process of relationship between knowledge, artifacts and systems, institutions and social groups. The collection of articles by young researchers that this book brings together is part of this context and constitutes a bid to invigorate the field of STS in Argentina. The diversity of works and approaches presented here stimulates dialogue and debate on the need to propose new strategies that articulate productive development, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion.
