The training of journalists in Cuban universities has transcended the instrumental character that characterized it in its beginnings, in order to equip itself with dialogue links with other disciplines and specialties. In addition, changes in society demand professionals increasingly capable of mastering the different media and languages of Journalism. Discourse Analysis brings together the procedures by which you can interpret communication products and realize investigations. These themes are included in the optional subjects for the specialty. Due to its importance, this article proposes a series of actions from this subject to contribute to the professional formation of the students of the Degree in Journalism of the University of Camagüey «Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz». In the research were used the documentary bibliographic review as a method to analyze the scientific production of the career and the Master Degree in Sciences of Communication, focused on discourse analysis, and the discussion group technique, and actions were proposed from the subject to train more prepared professionals. The main results reflected that there were theoretical studies that were not addressed from the subject, and that the students expanded it in the research period for the Diploma Work. Among the conclusions of the research, highlighted the need to articulate from the subject new ways of doing that contribute to the research and professional training of the students.
