Resumen

TRINQUETE, Dixie Edith. The Communication in Population in the context of the social problems of science and technology. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2014, vol.10, n.20, pp. 105-115. ISSN 1817-4078.

The Massive Communication Media (MCM), identified as cultural organs that can exert intellectual impact and behavioral change in the audiences, they should be considered an invaluable part of that possible group of interrelations options from which is promoted and it articulates the democratization and popularization of the scientific knowledge.  In the specific case of the production of knowledge about the demographic dynamics, MCM are usually integrated to the strategies directed to elevate the demographic culture, with the purpose of creating in people, conscience of their role in social processes; and in consequence, they help to generate conscious attitudes. However, it is evident that at the moment media are not completing those roles. In general, scientific studies on demography are insufficiently socialized. A fracture exists among the generation of scientific knowledge in the demographic field - very advanced in Cuba according to the opinion of multiple international organisms - and its amplification to other social environments. The country doesn't have a communicative institutional framework, systematic and opportune, so that the press knows with accuracy the population challenges, report them and make people to reason about them. The lack of information is also a serious restriction for any intent of educating the population in topics that involve behavioral changes and taking of responsibilities.

Palabras clave : population; massive media; communication in population.
