Resumen

CARRASCO PEREZ, Maibelín et al. Demographic aging, a challenge from public policies in Placetas municipality, Villa Clara. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2017, vol.13, n.25, pp. 32-42. ISSN 1817-4078.

Demographic aging is considered a worldwide concern, particularly for present Cuban society, which demands a priority care from public policies; as well as the need of change according to cultural perception from which it is assumed. In Cuba, Villa Clara province has the oldest population, and in it, Placetas municipality turns out to have the oldest population too, and is the second one in the country with the highest aging rates, because of the elevated decrease of births, and the continuous emigration of young people to other countries. With this work we would like to help in the management carried out, from implementing public policies, to treat demographic aging in Placetas, from the perspective of the community, as a possible way to achieve symmetry and horizontality bonds in any field. The mixed approach, from applying the documentary analysis, non-standardized interview and mathematic statistic method, was applied. The results obtained provide an understanding about the dynamics of aging phenomenon as a consequence of cultural development, and the system of social contradictions, besides the vision through which it should be treated from public policies. The challenges, which in this point appear from their implementing, are outlined. The study itself is a contribution to the role of institutions, whose social purpose includes the attention to families and elders as well.

Palabras clave : Demographic aging; from the community; public policies.
