OROZA BUSUTIL, Rebeca y PUENTE MARQUEZ, Yoannis. The migration crisis in the Mediterranean and the European Union: main politics and measures anti-immigrants. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2017, vol.13, n.26, pp. 1-9. ISSN 1817-4078.
The immigration crisis for several decades affecting Europe, with the arrival of immigrants and refugees from Africa and the Middle East, has acquired in recent years dimensions of a true humanitarian tragedy. This phenomenon, coupled with the negative consequences of the economic crisis, has led to the strengthening of racist, xenophobic and intolerant ideas, hoisted by the parties of the European extreme right handgrip found in sectors of the population. Linked to the spread of an ultraconservative discourse that blames immigrants for the ills suffered by member countries of the European Union (EU), it has been gaining strength opposition to any Community proposal to try to solve the immigration crisis that affects them. Measures designed both by European governments, as the supranational entity, have been characterized by their discriminatory treatment, pretending to manage irregular migration by externalizing community borders, the fight against criminal organizations promoting the smuggling and trafficking people and ignoring their historical responsibility.
