ECHEVARRIA LEON, Dayma; ESQUENAZI BORREGO, Arelys y ROSALES VAZQUEZ, Susset. Cuba: continuity, breakdown and challenges for the employment policy. Balance of the last decade. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.27, pp. 1-16. ISSN 1817-4078.
This work systematizes the main changes in the employment sphere in Cuba in the last decade. Its objective is to analyze the behavior of the main employment indicators in the country. The most relevant changes in the legal framework are also presented; as well as analyzing the impacts in the labor sphere of important measures undertaken in recent years as part of the process of updating the Cuban economic and social model: the expansion of forms of ownership and management, the diversification of sources of employment, the labor availability process and the institutional rearrangement in the public sector of the economy, among other measures. Current employment changes are presented from examining the available statistics with an equity focus, therefore, the analysis of dimensions such as sex, age, skin color and territory will be taken as transversal axes to the review the indicators presented. The main challenges point the increase of territorial heterogeneity, gender, generational and calcification of the labor force gaps. Some elements are given in order to build a projected country development, based on an integral and systemic analysis.
