Resumen

FAVIER GONZALEZ, Lucía A. Approximation to the construction of an index of the urban living conditions. Case study: Havana city. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.27, pp. 1-11. ISSN 1817-4078.

The present article is a first attempt to identify living conditions spatial configurations for the 2,760 census tracts that cover the built and buildable areas of Havana, excluding those that cover non-buildable areas. Study the municipalities of Havana, disaggregated at the census tracts level to contrast the differences between the different geographical spaces, towards the search of underlying spatial heterogeneities is the most immediate objective, with the intention of analyzing from the spatial point of view the living conditions in the capital city from several criteria. For its achievement, a Living Conditions Index was first constructed by census tracts based on the information from the 2012 census, from which five typologies of living conditions were derived in which differentiated characteristics are systematically observed, which reaffirms the conditions of heterogeneity that characterize the capital of the country; and in a second moment the location, distribution and spatial association of the index were analyzed, identifying configurations of local patterns associated to the resulting typologies, allowing to identify where to intervene and with what level of priority. In the present article only the construction of the index is presented. The applied method belongs to the multivariate statistic, specifically the Nonlinear Principal Components Analysis with Optimal Scaling.

Palabras clave : Spatial configurations; census tracts; optimal scaling; spatial heterogeneities.
