ROMERO ALMODOVAR, Magela; ECHEVARRIA LEON, Dayma  y  DIAZ PEREZ, Danay. Caring and being cared for: experiences in the historic center of La Habana Vieja. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2020, vol.16, n.32, pp. 182-211.  Epub 30-Mar-2021. ISSN 1817-4078.

One of the most important aspirations of the feminist movement is the balanced participation of women and men in family life and in the labor market. Specifically in caregiving tasks, women play an active role due to roles historically assigned and assumed from the social and sexual division of work. The article presents the results of a diagnosis carried out in the historic center of Habana Vieja, which aimed to analyze the position and condition of woman in care chains. The research process prioritized the qualitative perspective as a work methodology, as well as the gender approach; and techniques such as semi-structured interview with caregivers and caregivers were used. The results of this study confirm the high feminization of care work, reproducing and widening gender gaps.

Palabras clave : older adults; local care chains; gender.
