The formation of space abilities, field of study of the process of teaching-learning in the secondary education, constitutes a necessity in several of its subjects. The development of the space thought, the formal interpretation, communication of the space relationships and the application of methods to represent them are aspects to try in the Artistic and Cultural Education. By means of an initial exploration, inadequacies that denote a problematic situation, expressed in the contradiction among the demands exposed in the curricular limits of the Ministry of National Education of Colombia and the didactic proposals applied. To diagnose the necessities for the formation of space abilities constituted the objective of the present study. Methods were applied, instruments and technical in the level of empiric knowledge, among those are the analysis of official documents and the interview to secondary education professors. They were processed statistically the obtained data of the survey to professors of a sample of the official institutions of the municipality of Cali, Colombia. The triangular study of the results propitiated to obtain a clear perception of the investigation problem, that which will allow to model a solution for the formation of space abilities in students of the secondary education from the subject Artistic and Cultural Education.
