CACERES MESA, Maritza Librada; GARCIA CRUZ, Rubén y GARCIA ROBELO, Octaviano. The management of emotional intelligence in high school students. An exploratory study at a telesecundaria in México. Conrado [online]. 2020, vol.16, n.74, pp. 312-324. Epub 02-Jun-2020. ISSN 1990-8644.
The purpose of this study is to carry out an initial exploration that allows diagnosing how emotional intelligence is handled by adolescent students at the “Telesecundaria 268” School, located in the Tulancingo, Hidalgo, Mexico. A quantitative approach was taken, supported by the application of a questionnaire, which was piloted in a population of students who did not belong to the sample. The main findings show, from the intrapersonal component, a limited capacity to know oneself and demonstrate confidence when solving a conflict in the classroom; In the interpersonal component, limitations in the understanding of the emotions of their group colleagues are evident and only the minority are sensitized in supporting their colleagues. However, acceptance in teamwork is rescued as positive. All of this requires the relevance of the study in order to promote academic decision-making that leads to emotional intelligence literacy and thus support students to manage it appropriately throughout their school career and in their personal lives.
