The strategic objective of the current Economic and Social Model in Cuba to evaluate, promote and perfect the development of the country, should favor the solution to the problems that society demands at different levels, and in a timely manner at the local level, due to the importance that this represents for the advancement of this policy. The link of the university to these environments is present in its own essence and whose research activity and its results applied in practice constitute the engine for the development of the territories. This premise led to the elaboration and implementation of initiatives with which the active role of the university in the economic, cultural and social life of these territories was recognized, with the support of local governments and the collaboration and active participation of its actors such as strategic allies to achieve an interdisciplinary and inter-institutional integration with the environment. This experience makes it possible to recognize with a critical, renovating and transforming sense the link between the university and society. In this article, it verified how the postgraduate activity constitutes a key aspect for the direct solution of specific problems of the Aguada de Pasajeros municipality, Cienfuegos, which influence the economic, social, legal, energy and environmental order. Exemplified by the solution to 21 identified problems whose results achieved thanks to the direct incorporation of specialists from the community to scientific work, under the direction of specialists from two universities linked to the territory, with international collaboration.
