The adequate use of the mother tongue, whether oral or written, is a necessary requirement for people, but especially for professionals. That is why insisting that students develop communicative skills during their training period is a necessity, since the efficiency and competitiveness of a professional in any field will also depend on his or her command of the language, as well as on the communicative skills he or she develops, which will enable him or her to perform in any context. The present research carries out a study on how the development of communicative skills has behaved in university students in the Ecuadorian context, for which the historical-logical, induction and deduction, and analysis and synthesis methods were used in order to gather as much information as possible.
