In higher education, there has been an abrupt transition from face-to-face to virtual. Although there was experience in the virtual, it was declared as complementary. In a pandemic context, there has been no alternative but to make use of virtuality. In this article, a literature review is carried out on primary research whose theme is the implementation of virtual learning environments in higher education published in Spanish from the last 5 in order to classify the results into success factors. Two sources were used: EBSCO and SCIENCEDIRECT, since they are freely accessible sources. 144 articles were identified in the first source and 126 in the second. Of the 270 were selected, taking into account inclusion and exclusion criteria, 57 from EBSCO and 32 from SCIENCEDIRECT. Finally, through a quality evaluation scale that considers scores from 1 to 10, there were only 50 articles that scored above 7. The results show research results classified in two main determining factors for success in the implementation of learning in line in virtual education programs in higher education: Support processes (54%) and Learning processes (30%).
