MONTALVO PANTOJA, Rosa María; ALVAREZ TAPIA, Milena Elizabeth y CADENA MORILLO, Jaime Rodrigo. Adequacy of the study program for internships in the prevention of surgical infections. Conrado [online]. 2022, vol.18, n.87, pp. 192-199. Epub 02-Ago-2022. ISSN 1990-8644.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the quality of the teaching-learning process, as well as the knowledge shown by health professionals in training to verify the adequacy and relevance of the study and practical programs at the University Hospital of Río, in Cuenca, in surgical infection prevention. For this, a descriptive and cross-sectional study is conducted using a non-experimental, retrospective design, which includes the review and discussion of the curricular mesh of the career, as well as the application of surveys to the inmates of the analyzed center to determine the perceptions about the knowledge acquired. The review of the curricular plan allowed to determine the main deficiencies that, in the opinion of the experts, affect it. The surveys conducted on the sampled inmates allowed us to observe certain deficiencies related to the knowledge imparted regarding surgical infection prevention activities. The gaps detected in the thematic plan of the career, as well as in the development of knowledge and skills related to the prevention of surgical infections, make it possible to recommend adjusting the program to guarantee preventive skills in intern sudents.
